baa! Where I've been.
Sep. 17th, 2006 09:32 amA few brief notes:
*My sojourn in the Land of Cheese was limited to a single morning.
*I didn't count New York because it was only the airport (on the way to Germany).
*I only really saw the highways of Utah, but I'd like to mention that every single convenience store employee/owner there was polite and friendly and the stores were very clean.
*In Nebraska, we stopped in a pounding storm on the side of the road, and admired the rolling hills laid out before us, each more distant ridge revealing as the rain slowed and finally ended. These are not terrifying mountains, challenging every eye, but the comforting folds of a child's quilt, inviting rest and relief-- after you have a good roll.
*Seattle is well-known for its misty, rainy, humid weather, except for two miserably sunny, sweltering weeks in the fall of 1996, when two Okies were visiting.
*I have crossed the Mississippi four times in my life, the Atlantic Ocean twice, dipped a toe in the Pacific, and swum in the Gulf of Mexico.
( US map with states I've been in )
Oh, and by the way, I've listed my work schedule in my LJ sidebar (although I'd like to note that I'll be busy starting Wednesday adding two more states to my map).
