From Science Daily:

Tuesday, at least 62 firefighters from Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and other states were deployed in six eastern Oklahoma sectors with bulldozers, tanker trucks and other heavy equipment. Of Oklahoma's 77 counties, 33 have had fires, and the state emergency management center said damages had surpassed the $10 million mark.

From local news sources:

Fire activity in Oklahoma was moderate on Wednesday with a reported 23 fires burning approximately 10,500 acres.

Thirty new fires on Thursday.

Since November, 363,774 acres (approximately) have burned in Oklahoma alone. This is 568 square miles.

220 homes have been completely destroyed. A quarter of a million dollars of damage has been done to power lines and related structures alone.

Firefighters from many states have come to assist the people of Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico against these fires.

Chief Pyle of the Choctaw Nation has offered free fuel, ice, drinks, and snacks to any firefighters (including volunteers) who stop at the Choctaw Nation Travel Plaza filling stations throughout the state.

We've just finished the driest year since 1956, with only two-thirds of our normal yard or so of rainfall.

Anyone care to guess when our next measureable rainfall in OKC will be? The current forecast shows nothing over 20% chance between now and next Friday.
