I offered [livejournal.com profile] dda a list of date activities. Here they are.

Sharing the list in case someone else needs inspiration. Nothing here is NSFW; if you want NSFW date activities, you're on your own.

#5 is pretty specific to a certain person's kitchen, but the rest? they're generic.

1. Go out with a blanket and watch the Perseids in August.

2. Borrow a telescope and look for Jupiter's moons.

3. Go to a cemetery and look at the monuments. Decide if taking rubbings is creepy or neat.

4. Toast marshmallows on a stick. Debate the proper toastiness/gooeyness ratio. Experiment until funding or interest wears out. Actually a lot of things involving outside and fires are pretty cool by design.

5. Paint the kitchen. The two colors I had in mind are a kind of cinnamony-golden brown (think a non-metallic copper color) and wedgewood blue. I'd be happy to compromise on a lighter color on the walls-- say, golden cream-- and darker trim colors. I think what would look AWESOME in that kind of kitchen is a new or restored wooden table with a golden oak top-- look here at the "beautiful victorian table" and imagine that top with the legs instead of black being a rich blue color. Darker than this.

6. I have painted furniture before. And rooms. Just saying. I've been paid to do this. On purpose.

7. Hanging pegboard or other "organizer" scheme, painted to match, would be fabulous on one of the empty walls.

8. I want to learn to spin. Surely someone has spindle spinning classes. I think I might have the idea but I think $20-30 to learn is fair too. Oh yeah! I'd need a spindle. And wool. Mmm hmmm. I want to go somewhere for class and meet afterward and have coffee and a muffin and babble and wave my hands over the whole thing because I'm so excited. I want immediate post-instruction squee with someone!

10. I secretly covet one of those wire-notebook-binder things. And a few layers of rubber cement and some sealant and...do you like to put things together? Cause I do!

11. I love jigsaw puzzles. I'd like to put one together while making soup. Or bread. Or both.

12. I want to make cheese! Actually, I want to make something that's a two person project that I've never made before. I don't know what it is yet.

13. I want to get some sturdy shoes and go out walking somewhere and look at leaves. Leaves here come in two colors: brown, and rain-soaked.

14. I want to kick leaves in the air and not have to duck away from them (see leaf color #2). I am pretending that in other places they don't have bugs in their leaves like we do.

15. I want to scream and flail my hands when a bug gets on me and have someone else actually get it off me.

16. GET IT OFF ME! GET IT OFF ME!

17. Was it actually just a rock? Cause I like rocks. I like picking up rocks and looking at them and putting them down and, hey, we better not be back at bugs again... and putting one or two rocks in my pocket to take home. or ten.

18. I have never built a snow fort.

19. Or a sand castle at the beach.

20. See #17. Are there bugs at the beach? Creepy things are much cuter when you call them "crustaceans" I think.

21. I like seeing historic buildings. But remember, historic to me is 100 years old. I LOVE looking at different ages of houses and looking at styles and things as simple as the porch columns on a bungalow.

22. ...touring open houses. my guilty pleasure. I am such a voyeur.

23. This apple-picking thing. It intrigues me. However, picking berries sounds a lot safer, since I'm much more afraid of heights than I am of scratches.

24. Speaking of heights, I like going up stairs to look at things but not if you can see through the stairs (aka stairs made of grates). I like roller coasters. I like Ferris wheels. I have never kissed anyone on a Ferris wheel. Or a roller coaster.

25. I also like just going to the park and taking a blanket and snacks and a book or two and lying around for an hour together, doing absolutely nothing.
