(Re-posting this question because I liked the answer
priapussy gave me, but wanted to let everyone have a word.)
So, as most of you know, we're homeschooling. And, as most of you know, I'm a Christian.
What I'm looking for is a way to incorporate teaching about *other* religions (i.e. religions other than mine and her father's) into our learning. I'd like her to learn more than I did at her age-- that consisted of a few myths with the standard introduction of "this is what people USED to believe."
I don't want the equivalent of the Christian fuff out there-- the "practice handwriting while copying Scripture" or "math with Bible stories" business. We don't do that because personally I consider it a little like slipping drugs into the applesauce. What I'm looking for is some sort of reading-- for her to read, or for us to read to her-- that talks about people of different faiths. It doesn't have to be nonfiction, even, just reasonably tolerant.
If she grows up and chooses to be Christian, I'll be proud and happy-- but it won't be a choice if she doesn't know anything else.
Any thoughts, anyone?
