I got this from
alfrecht.
How this game works: Just comment on this post saying you'd like to play. Then I will choose seven interests from your profile, and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post these instructions along with your answers in your own LiveJournal so that others can play along, too.
And here are the 7 interests he picked out of mine:
1. biology
Of all the sciences, this has to be the one I'm most fascinated with-- not something I would have expected while I was in school. I'm fascinated by genetics and anatomy and medicine and all kinds of interesting stuff like that; I end up reading journal articles while I'm at work, when I have free time (which isn't much, lately).
2. consent
I like knowing that I can consent to whatever I really want, with the right partner who wants to give it to me. I like begging for more, pleading, making it abundantly clear that this is NOT forced or coerced, and showing exactly how much I want something; I find that no matter what the typical porn looks like for the things I like, a lot of people in real life don't really want to play with safewords as much as they want to know they are wanted and needed and loved-- even when it hurts.
3. crock pot
I have much love for my crock pot. It makes awesome apple butter, and stew, and roast, and all number of tasty things, and it makes my house smell good, so that I know I'm home when I open the door. I think that's important.
4. mythology
I'm not entirely comfortable with the "my religious writings are scripture, yours are mythology" division, but since that's what people call it, I'll run with it. I grew up on the Greek myths and the Norse ones, and added in more once I got to college-- the more I learn about other people's faiths, the better I can look at my own as well.
5. polyfidelity
It's something I turn over in my head now and again-- what exactly *is* polyfi? What qualifies-- waiting for "marriage" or true committment before getting sexually intimate? Not dating other people once your family is "full"? How do you know? I'm afraid I may not really be cut out for it.
6. privacy
I think I'm skewed about 90 degrees from the rest of the world on this. What I do for a living is private, my full name is private, my kid's name is private-- but I don't have a problem discussing all kinds of other stuff, like the number of sex partners I've had and how I counted.
7. scarves
Well, this used to be scarves as in knitting, and it's now scarves as in covering the head. I'm not a dress-wearer, but I have chosen to wear a few more modest things (meaning dressing in a way that doesn't point out my assets when it's not appropriate) in some circumstances, and I chose to cover my hair in public as a personal reminder to myself to act like a good example of a Christian. I won't say it's perfect, but it's working.
