Well, my esteemed co-worker is not taking vacation. So I'll be working next Thursday and that's it for losing weekend days (and one day is fine by me).
I've been cheered up by spending some social time talking to folks, and I brought a new book to work and have been devouring it between calls. (It's the third book of that Mercedes Lackey/James Mallory trilogy, which I read through half the first book of before realizing "this is mind candy of the most brain-rotting sort, I know exactly where the plot is going, and I must have more!")
I will probably get actual work done before heading out of here at 8:15, and then get some sleeps when I get home, after I have a big plate of sauerbraten and noodles. (The family sauerbraten recipe involves huge amounts of brisket cut into 3" cubes and marinated in vinegar and cloves and other good stuff for three days, then slow-cooked.)
I don't know if I'll get more than five hours' sleep today, but five will get me through to the weekend and it'll be good from there.
