Major icing!!

So I've been watching the weather, wondering what it's going to do-- earlier this morning it was 40 outside (er, about +3-4 in real degrees?) and right now it's 27 (-2 in real degrees).

We are expected to get some rain, or possibly freezing rain, today. Then tonight we might have a wee bit more, and tomorrow a fair bit of rain (or freezing rain) again.

We have a bright red "winter storm warning" with the anticlimactic text, "ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE-TENTH OF AN INCH OR LESS MAY OCCUR ON ELEVATED SURFACES" at the end.

All this talk of icing has made me hungry. I think I shall go to the store for cream cheese and make marbled brownies. (I wonder if "cream cheese" is called something else in other countries? It's the stuff you normally put on bagels.)

Bring it on, Mother Nature

We have foods in case the power goes out and lots of blankets and kitties to keep us warm.

Marbled brownies are in the oven and shortbread is waiting to go in after that. Lunch is on the stove (sausage, diced tomatoes, peas, and barley, with some sort of grain to go with it in a few).

ETA: The brownies are kinda funny-looking but DIVINE. Next time, I do need to mix the cream cheese in better.

brownie recipe!

I took parts from two different brownie recipes and smooshed them together into the goodness that is cream cheese brownies. I found a good recipe for the cream cheese part, but it started "Prepare the brownie mix according to directions" and I thought, screw that. I want to make them from SCRATCH. So, I did.

So, it doesn't look so good, since the cream cheesey bits didn't rise as much so the top's sorta uneven. But it tastes great.
