Maybe I'm just weepy.

If you've ever had a garage sale that ended with putting some items at the curb with a sign "FREE" on them, you might like Freecycle.

The idea is that you can post to the list if you have an item to give away, or want a specific item and wonder if someone else has it to give away. The only restriction is that it must be free- not a trade, barter, or sale. Of course, a lot of folks post dream stuff there, but some of the posts are heartbreakingly practical.
