The response I felt might be too volatile for someone else's LJ:

Using language to accurately reflect one's self-perception is not a "special need." It's a common human need.

I certainly grant anyone the right to make fun of the way it's done, but being offended by the fact that it happens is being offended that some people dare to consider themselves humans.

So, why the HELL do people feel the need to refer to someone else's claiming of a universal human right as "special needs" or "special beliefs"?
