I just called both my folks' numbers and got no answer, so assumed they'd forgot to charge the phones and called the house.

My grandfather answered. (He lives next door and they have the same phone number.) Seems my dad is in the hospital having a hernia fixed.

Also, WARNING! Disturbing pet news, but not my pets )

On the schedule today: at 9, I'm going to the bank and then to the Department of Vital Records to get a copy of my damn birth certificate (which went missing again) to give a copy of it to my employer in lieu of my Social Security card, which would require waiting for the stupid thing in the mail. I'll probably take the kid with me, for fun.

I'm back!

I went to the Dept. of Vital Stats.

They refused to raise my CHA.

So, instead, I took a piece of paper that swears I was borned an American. I looked all over it just to make sure I wasn't adopted or an immigrant from Mars. But it looks certified so I guess it's right.

Anyways, I needed that because with the office move, they're neatening up paperwork and I guess they suddenly realized that they didn't actually have copies of the new Homeland Security Dept. of Agriculture ATF DEA M-O-U-S-E approved form thingies where you show ID from column A and column B.

I picked fried rice or General Tso's chicken. They said not that kind of column A and B. So, I needed either a social security card (which apparently disappeared a couple of moves ago and requires a signed certified Act Of Gawd to replace, and they mail it to a black hole or your mailbox, depending on the exact phase of the moon) or my birth cert, which I knew I could get for $10 and a half-hour's wait.

Amazingly, they were really fast-- I gave them my app, ID, and the $10 in cash, and the lady went tappity-tap-tap, click click, and then handed me a receipt off the printer. I was asking "Can I wait and get the copy..." and she handed me the birth certificate off the printer, already certified.

So now I'm home and it's about bedtime. I saw the new dome *spit* on the Capitol. I'm not impressed; it looks just like every other damn capitol now.

(For those not aware of Oklahoma history, for many years we were the only state WITHOUT a dome on the capitol building.)

and behind a cut for religious content. )

I guess I just need to face it, and stop worrying that people will be offended by the mere idea that I'm talking about my faith, and say what needs to be said.
