Well, I've added a couple more things to the list of things I need to do this week.

Sleep, alas, is not one of them. I did get some good sleeps today though (but I missed my WoW date with [livejournal.com profile] dda to do it).

But I figure all work and no play makes Jack a very grumpy boy, so I've put aside the sweater I'm making the kiddo for a day or so and I started the sweater I want to make for the supervisor's new sprog.

Making baby sweaters is potentially lots of fun. Of course, the knitting community seems to have the following strange concept:

1. If you want to try something out on a small scale, make a baby sweater.
2. You must use special eensy weensy yarns for baby sweaters.

...Therefore, patterns for baby sweaters use about as many stitches as regular size sweaters, just smaller yarn and needles. Feh, says I.

So I cast on 100 in Bernat Denimstyle (an acrylic-cotton MACHINE WASHABLE blend, in blue and white) and I'm over 2" into the sweater already. Since midnight, which is 3 1/2 hours ago.

This yarn is really fun to work with-- exactly the happy medium between slippery and sticky, and on my bamboo needles I'm getting some outrageous knitting speed. I used to knit about 1 stitch every 4 seconds, and I'm doing about twice that fast. (whee!)

ETA: If any of you kind souls are baby-owners or knitters, my Google-fu fails me and I could use some help. How big is the neck of a 6-9 month old baby? (Failing that, how big should the collar of a sweater/shirt for said baby be?) If nobody knows tonight, I'll go look at shirts tomorrow and measure.

So, the apartment inspection yesterday was-- SURPRISE PET inspection.

They were surprised to find so many pets. Specifically, they were surprised to find ours, since we weren't on the rent rolls as having paid a pet deposit. We got a dirty look and a "pay your pet deposit" speech. (At least, Raven did, I was asleep.)

So, I toddled over to the office today and we went through the file-- I moved to this apartment back in 2000, and waaaay back in the back was a sheet showing what I'd paid when I moved in: $150 security deposit (for the people) and $200 non-refundable pet fee, which is what they did at the time instead of a deposit.

So, I now have my own special comment on the rent roll that even though I don't have money in escrow for the kitties, I paid a one-time fee and they are allowed to rampage reasonably throughout the house.

All squared away, no money involved, 20 minutes of my time including petting the office Yorkie while they took phone calls.
