This week's lineup, from memory, and I'm hoping [livejournal.com profile] pentane can fill in gaps for me:

Tanks:
BloodlĂne, warrior, <Nightstalkers>
Fineilldoit, warrior, same

Healers:
Galee, priest (I think; it was definitely a guildie priest)
Mourl, a.k.a. Mr. Redshirt, druid, guildie
Anthrak as resto shaman, (Anth is in Defiance).

One priest who joined early on and then left, more about which in the commentary.

DPS:
Enhtiar, shaman
Freedomguy, hunter, new to instancing, guildie
Frogvete, hunter, guildleader
Niteprincess, who went LD early on, replaced with some caster later
Draculette, warlock, whose alt is Lenka the priest.

Positive:
Starting on time
Once again, we started fairly close to on time. I personally think we could have done better than 7:20 as far as summoning, but on the other hand, we didn't have a full group til then (wanting to give guildies time to sign on and join us before going LFG). Still a positive in my book.

Questions being answered
A previous beef, that no one answered simple questions in raid chat was fixed this time around. Simple questions include "Who is healing Tank A, is it Healer X or Healer Y?" (The reason I'd need to know that is that if I look over and Healer X is getting a beatdown, someone needs to pick up heals on whoever they're healing-- but we can't wait to see who dies to find out who that is.)

Learning from mistakes
After the AOE trap that went bad, I didn't see that happen again. We only had a couple (yours truly included) who got proximity pulls. We made a few mistakes, most only once.

Neutral:
We didn't down the huntsman this time, but we did get close, and we expect to next week with what we've learned.

Negative:
I'm going to start with that priest who left very early on, and extend it outwards.

I am not saying anything against people who don't want to instance with their guild, or don't want to PvP with them, or anything like that. People have different likes and dislikes, and I won't stand in the way of someone who prefers not to participate in an activity with their guild.

However, saying that you refuse to raid with your guild because you'd rather raid with some other group is like telling your husband "No sex, I'm saving it for someone special."

This priest told us that we, her guildies, weren't good enough for her to raid with us. She called Kara "easy mode." (This despite not having any gear from Kara herself... how does that happen if you've done it so much, or are you just blowing smoke out your wand?)

Now, we are not the best raiders in the world. In fact, I would go so far as to say we suck. We're improving from massive suck to minor suck and sometime real soon I hope that we'll be into "not quite suck" and going up from there.

But, if you won't raid with us when we suck, and you're better than us, then you're just going to show up when we're good and needja some gear. We don't need that.

Actually, that's all that sucked about this raid, the suckitude from non-attending guildies.

Not bad for a Sunday!

To explain the "cries out for" cut tag, I'll mention that there is a setting in the actual WoW software (Or in Cosmos, I'm unsure). What it does is when you reach a certain point for health or mana, it will announce in an emote, either "Name is low on mana" or "Name cries out for healing!" There's also a voice option that says "I'm low on mana" or "Heal me!"

I find this setting to be annoying and insulting. If I'm the healer in the group, and you are not getting healed, one of three things is happening.

1)You don't actually need a heal. Or someone else needs one more.
2)I can't heal you because I'm trying not to die.
3)Either I have lag, computer issues, or some RL emergency.

In none of these cases does setting your software to DEMAND healing do you any good. I can see your HP right there on the screen, just like you can see my mana.

Some people don't realize that this is an automated setting that triggers at a certain percentage of health, so it may actually distract people into thinking that you are really emoting that on purpose.

The main reason I find this insulting, though, is that both of the settings are for the benefit of tanks. If you're the healer, shouting "heal me!" won't do you any good, and shouting "Low on mana" just saves the tank from having to waste a precious brain cell.

What would the equivalent healer or DPS settings be?

--Shaman cries out for people to stop pulling away from the totems. (Totems don't help you if you're out of range, folks!)
--Mage cries out for people to stop breaking sheep. (AOE. Nuff said.)
--Priest cries out for people to DPS more slowly. (DPSing early and often leads to aggro, which means the priest has to heal everyone, not just the tank, and that leads to priest aggro, and priests are tender cloth-wrapped morsels.)
