So, in the interests of getting more fit, and doing also-useful things rather than fitness-only things, I've looked up the walking directions for various points of interest.
I used to walk this far every single day to get to class, when I was in college.
Destinations within an hour's (3 mile) walk:
I might just start making weekly plans to walk somewhere. If I do it right, I'll reward myself by buying some new music for the iPod.
This week, though, I'm sorta broke-- I worked 2 days last week and was gone 3 for the funeral and stuff, so I only got 18 hours. And, naturally, right before my grandfather passed, I paid my taxes early and my mortgage and all that stuff, so I was down a bit and expecting my next full paycheck. We're not going to go hungry by any means, but a couple of bills are going to wait for next week instead of being paid immediately (my usual standard).
On the other hand, this makes me fantasize about telling work that I don't want to work my last 7.5 hour day, which would drop my weekly hours to 36. And I can actually make it quite well on 36 hours a week.
I got a reply back from our benevolence leader. I wrote a 3-page "how I make phone calls" document and sent it to her and she said it's super and she's going to hand out copies of MY stuff when we have our training day on the 21st. Hooray!
My dad's coming up next week. I want to get, um, some stuff for planting my garden. I need to go out and figure out what I need and where, and work out measurements and buy some topsoil and all that.
The carrots are sprouting nicely, and the basil and oregano have come up really well. I need to get some smaller pots for those and pretty them up to share with other folks, I think.
And after all that thinking about things I want to do? I need to go clean the catbox and get started on my day.

Destinations within an hour's (3 mile) walk:
- Wal-Mart
- Target
- Barnes and Noble-- though this does involve crossing over the interstate, so I need to scope out the overpass and make sure there's a sidewalk.
- Gourmet Yarn Co.
- Hobby Lobby
- Quail Springs Mall
