I'm still here!

For those of you who were up on part of the saga about the new employee who wasn't catching on, she is seeking opportunities elsewhere.

I am excitedly planning a turkey dinner for the Wednesday of T-day week, but before then I have to clean up my dining room, which actually needs to be done TONIGHT because I have company visiting from out of state. Oh, and I'm on vacation this week! Hooray!

Planning on doing the Murrah Memorial, the Sam Noble Museum, and possibly one other thing, plus some dinners at my place. Will probably find time to buy a vegetable steamer later, because I am in love with the idea since the last dinner with my folks.

Knitting has happened, but I haven't taken and posted pictures recently-- I'll get around to that and link them soonish.

RE: The recent earthquake-- I found someone whose job sucked worse than mine that night. A nameless dispatcher in a local town said that apparently the first thing we do when there's an earthquake is, for a significant part of the population, call the police.

Seriously. Like they're gonna come arrest the earthquake? C'mon, Oklahomans, your usual tornado skills are not helpful here! (Tornado skill: You need people to report where the wind is and the damage, because it's highly localized, and some people want to get away from it while others want to drive around and film it. Earthquakes, not so much.)

I was just mentioning you earlier to a fellow knitter on my f-list here, told him to look you up sometime.
[personal profile] hugh_mannity is the bloke.

Good to hear you and the family are doing good. Me and the job in Lawton are doing quite well! Must come visit soon!

I mentioned to a friend last night about how earthquake vs tornadoes preparedness do not quite work the same here in the sooner state as in say California. Running into underground rooms to get away from earthquakes doesn't work nowhere near as well as it does when it comes to tornadoes.
