To all those women who, in careful consideration of their abilities and desires, uphold the honor of motherhood by choosing not to have children-- thank you.
To all those out there for whom this day, among others, is another day without the children you've dreamed of-- whether they're gone or haven't come yet-- my heart goes out to you.
To all those moms who aren't doing such a hot job of raising their kids, please don't be afraid to ask for help. Let your children celebrate Mother's Day without irony, without bitterness or anger. Let us not be so intent on having children of our own that we forget to help others'. And happy Mother's Day.
And to all those pretty-damn-good moms out there, happy Mother's Day.
