I finished the second sleeve of my fall sweater and am now on row 30 of 80 of the body (up to the armpits), at which point I will breathlessly put all three together and knit a yoke. Or something.

Being a bit bored and in need of something interesting to knit, I read through the hats section of Zimmerman's Knitting Without Tears and saw something called a "Snail Hat" which has a spiraling rib like a twisty snail shell. Now obviously I can't re-post her pattern, and obviously I can post a pattern that I make up for a hat, even if (a) it's knitted; (b) it contains knit and purl stitches; (c) it contains a sort of spiraling rib, as hers does.

I'm now wondering whether the copyright would cover her particular variation on "purl (x) stitches, purl 2 together, knit (y) stitches, make one." I'm using P2 P2tog K11 M1 [purl 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches together, knit 11 stitches, make 1], which is the set of numbers she suggests; would I be more in the clear to use P3 P2tog K10 M1? In other words, I'm not sure if it's analogous to using a sentence from a poem (not ok) like "The fog crept in on little cat feet", or a word or pair of words (definitely ok) like "cat feet".

And in other news, I've figured out where my creative fit came from, and the housecleaning fit earlier this morning/last night. And the bitchy-fits. Sorry, folks.
