Got home to my folks', threw laundry in the washer, had birthday cake for breakfast (hey, my birthday was the day before, I was entitled to it) and then a bit of a nap.

Got up in time to visit and knit some and visit more, and then we had dinner, which was lovely and traditional and yummy and SO filling. Love me some turkey and potatoes. I miss mashed potatoes, but I never make them. Odd, huh?

Anyways, my mom told me about the ongoing gopher and armadillo problem-- seems the pesky critters are digging up the yard (the 80 acres comprising house, immediate surroundings, father-in-law house, drive, runway, hangar, windsock, and shed). So one day my parents were coming home from the store in the VW Bug, saw an armadillo crossing the drive, so my dad stopped at the hangar and got his gun and they went driving across the pasture with him shooting at it. (He got it, too.)

This seems to have terrified the other armadillos and gophers, to say nothing of my mom, and they're kinda quiet for the winter anyways.

The other thing I noticed when I was down is the huge hole (about 30-40 feet across and 4-10 feet deep, varying) in the front yard.

"What happened there?"

My dad nonchalantly says "Meteor impact."

"How come the bulldozer is parked right next to it?"

"Pure coincidence."

So, um, anyways, my parents have a pond now and they're just waiting for rain to fill it up, then they'll put some fish in it.

My cousin is a senior in high school and taller than me now. And my grandmother commented favorably on my weight. That's kinda scary.
